Revolut

Revolut brings an account, cards, transfers and currency exchange into one app, with a Standard plan that has no monthly subscription fee in France.

Point to consider Features, fees, limits and referral campaigns vary by plan, country and time.

Our verdict at a glance

Revolut is a compelling financial app for managing payments, transfers and multiple currencies in one place. The Standard plan has no monthly subscription fee, making it possible to explore the core service without immediately choosing a paid tier. The app can be particularly useful for travel, online spending or keeping selected transactions separate from a main account.

Our verdict remains conditional: Revolut is useful when its tools match your habits, not simply because opening an account is quick. Cash withdrawals, currency exchange and physical-card delivery involve limits or fees. Review them before deciding whether Revolut should be a secondary or primary account.

Why open a Revolut account

Revolut’s main strength is the range of everyday tools brought together in a polished app: virtual and physical cards, payments, SEPA transfers and currency conversion. You can follow transactions quickly and see applicable charges before confirming many operations.

Standard has no monthly subscription fee. The French fee schedule lists account maintenance and SEPA transfers as free, and a virtual card is available without charge. The first physical Standard card is also listed as free, although delivery remains payable.

For travellers or people who spend in several currencies, built-in exchange can offer genuine convenience. For everyday euro spending, Revolut can also work as a mobile secondary account. The right choice still depends on your withdrawal frequency, exchange volume and wider banking needs.

How Revolut Standard works

Account opening and management take place in the app. After identity verification, you can fund the account, create a virtual card, order a physical card and make payments or transfers. Several paid plans add higher allowances or extra services, but this review focuses on Standard.

Revolut uses its own exchange rate and, where possible, displays the total cost before the transaction. Standard includes a monthly exchange allowance, after which a fair-usage fee applies. Currency exchange at weekends also carries a separate fee.

Current referral benefit

The Perkvera link may form part of a temporary campaign. Revolut says that unless the app states otherwise, the person making the invitation receives the reward. The invitee generally needs to be a new customer, use the link, verify their identity and complete the displayed steps before the deadline.

Perkvera therefore does not promise a bonus to the invitee. Read the campaign screen before starting and do not assume that a promotion seen elsewhere applies to your registration.

How to open a Revolut account

  1. Open Revolut from the button on this page to use the link associated with the current campaign.
  2. Install the app and create an account with your phone number and accurate personal details.
  3. Complete the identity checks requested by Revolut.
  4. Review the referral steps, deadline and intended reward recipient before ordering a card or making a payment.
  5. Compare Standard with paid plans according to your withdrawals, exchange needs and desired extra services.

You can begin with Standard and decide later whether its included allowances fit your usage. Check the displayed delivery charge before ordering a physical card.

Standard fees and limits

For Standard in France, Revolut does not charge for cash withdrawals up to five withdrawals or €200 per rolling month, whichever limit comes first. It then charges 2%, subject to a €1 minimum per withdrawal. The ATM operator may add its own fee.

A €1,000 monthly exchange allowance applies before a 1% fair-usage fee on the additional amount. Revolut also states a 1% fee for exchanges made at the weekend. Standard local delivery for the first physical card was listed at €7.99 in the fee schedule reviewed on 24 August 2026; always check the amount shown in the app before ordering.

Other operations, including certain international transfers and cryptoasset or investment services, follow separate pricing. No monthly subscription fee does not mean that every feature is free.

Security, banking status and fund protection

Revolut is a bank, but not every feature in the app necessarily has the same protection. Check the relevant entity, product and terms, especially for cryptoassets or investments.

Protect access to your phone, enable the controls offered by the app and investigate unknown transactions promptly. A convenient interface remains a financial service that deserves the same precautions as any other account.

Eligibility

A personal account is subject to availability in the country, the applicable age requirement, identity verification and regulatory checks. Referral campaigns can add their own criteria and deadlines.
